ACCORDION BOOK MAKING WORKSHOP
Class Date: Saturday, July 6th 2024
Class Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Location: Lighthouse Paper Co.
3600 N Wickham Rd, Ste 105
Melbourne, FL 32935
In this engaging workshop, participants will create their own accordion book using a delightful assortment of scrapbook paper and ephemera. An accordion book, historically originating from ancient China and Japan, features a series of pages that fold out in a concertina-style manner, offering a unique and dynamic way to present content. During the session, attendees will learn techniques for selecting and arranging paper and ephemera to create visually captivating pages that tell a story or convey a theme. Guided by Rockledge-based artist Debbie Bitner, the workshop will cover essential bookbinding methods and creative embellishment ideas to personalize each book.
The purpose of an accordion book is to provide a flexible and expandable format that can be used for various artistic and narrative expressions. Participants will discover the joy of this versatile book structure as they experiment with layering, collage, and mixed media to bring their artistic vision to life. By the end of the workshop, everyone will leave with a beautiful, handcrafted accordion book, perfect for use as a photo album, a journal, or a unique gift. This hands-on experience not only fosters creativity but also imparts valuable skills in bookmaking and design.
All materials will be provided as part of this workshop to create a finished product, as well as 10% off purchases made in store (valid until 8/30/2024).
