This class introduces students to the Art Nouveau lettering style. In the 1890s and early years of the 20th century artists and designers throughout Europe created lettering that broke free from traditional expectations of classical proportions, predictable placement of thicks and thins, notions of internal balance, consistent spacing, and legibility. The Art Nouveau era was a moment of glorious freedom for letters.
No prior experience is needed to attend and all ages are welcome. All materials needed for the class will be provided, as well as light snacks, refreshments and 10% off purchases made in store.
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Antonette Willemse
Antonette is a South African-born artist who now makes the Melbourne area her home. She utilizes several Calligraphy techniques in her artwork and is a prolific oil painter and journaler.
WORKSHOP POLICIES
We will email you a ticket for admission within 24 hours of purchase. This ticket, printed or electronic, must be shown to staff prior to the start of the workshop.
Cancellations: We do not allow cancellations as we have committed to compensating our instructor for their time, supplies and talent. However, if you are unable to attend the workshop, let us know within 48 hours and you can either send someone else in your place or have this workshop's materials shipped to you. Lighthouse Paper Co. reserves the right to cancel this event due to limited attendance or staff shortage, in which a full refund will be promptly provided.
Dietary Restrictions: As part of this workshop we will provide snacks and refreshments. While we try to accommodate all attendees, please let us know of any dietary restrictions you have and we will do our best to provide alternatives.
